On this tour, you will be having a hands on, do it yourself (DIY) experience and produce your own local souvenirs. Your first experience will be at the Foundry located at the Royal Selangor Pewter. Here, you will be making your own pewter accessory with methods that are used today at the Royal Selangor factory. During the workshop you will be guided through the processes of casting and polishing of your pewter souvenir by an instructor. Finally choose your preferred finishing either a bright finish or an antique finish. If you are the adventurous and creative kind, you can create your own free-hand design. You will also have an opportunity visit the retail floor after your exciting adventure on pewter making. This will be followed a light refreshment at Royal Selangor’s café.
To add to your collection of Malaysian souvenirs, you will visit the Kuala Lumpur City Gallery. Here you will get an insight of Kuala Lumpur through an interesting collection of prints, miniatures and photographs. The gallery is situated in a 114 – year old Moorish styled building. You can view a collection of beautiful wood cut art pieces and miniatures modelled after the city’s heritage buildings and landmarks. You will also see artisans at work creating these beautiful pieces and this will give you an idea to complete your own souvenirs which is what you will do next.
Notes:
There is an approximately 90-minute drive from Port Kelang to Kuala Lumpur. Tour order may vary. The weather will be hot & humid. Wear Comfortable walking/flat, light clothing and a hat is advisable. Bring along poncho in case of wet weather & insect repellent. Bring local currency and major credit cards for additional purchases
