An approximately one-hour ride from the ship brings you to UNESCO World Heritage Site Changdeok Palace. In the early 15th century, King Taejong ordered the construction of a new palace at an auspicious site. The palace consists of several official and residential buildings set in a garden cleverly adapted to the uneven topography. The result is an exceptional example of Far Eastern palace architecture and design, blending harmoniously with the surrounding landscape.
Next up is a brush with Korean culture as you participate in making pajeon -- Korean pancakes. Eat what you’ve made and taste South Korean traditional foods with Makgeolli -- a Korean liqueur.
In the very heart of the city, Insadong Street is a main road with alleys leading off each side. Within these alleys are galleries and traditional restaurants, teahouses, and cafés. Take some time here to relax with a cup of Korean tea.
Next, transfer to Gwangjang Market to try some local street food. Gwangjang Market is one of Korea’s largest traditional markets, more than a century old. Many of the stalls here have been handed down through families for several generations. You’ll have time to explore the market and taste some awesome Korean street food (at your own expense).
Return to the ship in Incheon.
