Join your tour guide for an informative walking tour in the Homer Harbor area. You’ll see the variety of boats that fish in Alaskan waters. A number of pleasure craft are usually anchored nearby and range from sailing schooners to yachts. Your guide will tell you the history of the area and explain the sport and commercial fishing industries. The geology, natural history and geography of the area will also be explained. Keep your eyes peeled for the Time Bandit from the television show The Deadliest Catch in case it is in the harbor during your visit. You will also visit a commercial fish processing plant where you can purchase a wide variety of seafood and have it shipped home to US destinations, or just grab a snack (at your own expense) while you are there. There will be time to visit the gift shops, galleries and restaurants on the Homer Spit before boarding a shuttle back, to the ship. A stop at the Salty Dawg Saloon will allow those who wish to visit this iconic watering hole to do so.
