Terms & Conditions

*Holland America Line (“HAL”) is offering guests the ability to book on standby rates on eligible and select cruises (the “Standby Program”). The Standby Program is available to guests 18 years of age or older and is intended for those residing within driving distance from the port of cruise departure and who are available to travel at short notice.  These special conditions apply to all Program bookings in addition to HAL’s Cruise Contract. To the extent these special conditions differ from HAL’s Cruise Contract, these special conditions take precedence. On making a Standby Program booking, guest will be required to make full payment of the total applicable Standby Fare. Standby fares are based on double occupancy and with new 200% single supplement applies. Staterooms will be assigned by HAL once the guest has cleared the standby list and guests shall have no ability to request a certain room or room type on the cruise. Payment is not a guarantee or promise that the cruise will have space/availability for guest; guest will only be cleared for standby to cruise when/if the guest receives official confirmation from HAL approximately 2 to 7 days before cruise’s departure. This Program is not combinable with other offers or promotions. If a guest cancels their Program booking, HAL’s standard cancellation terms will apply, as set out in clause 17 of HAL’s Cruise Contract. If a guest clears standby and then decides to cancel, the same applies, which means that a 100% cancellation fee will apply. If the guest does not clear standby, they will automatically be refunded the full amount of the cruise fare that they were charged at the time they were placed on the standby list. Guests wanting the ability to remove themselves/not be charged for the cruise if they elect not to sail should instead opt to go on a cruise waitlist (and pay at prevailing rates). Guests that do not clear the standby list up to 2 days prior to departure, have the option to remain on standby up until 90 minutes prior to departure. Guests that remain on the standby list up to 90 minutes prior to departure can decline a cleared standby list selection and get a full refund. Program is subject to availability and available only in connection with new bookings on eligible and select HAL cruises.
