On Deck for A Cause

On Deck for a Cause is Holland America Line’s signature onboard fundraising event.

A non-competitive 5K walk is held on every sailing that invites guests to participate, donate, and make a difference in the communities we visit.

Impact Highlights

Alaska Parks and Veterans:

Holland America Line and the Holland America Line Foundation invite you to join us in supporting Alaska’s parks and veterans by participating in On Deck for a Cause®, a noncompetitive 5k fundraising walk held on each sailing. Proceeds from this walk will support two organizations: Alaska Geographic, the nonprofit education partner of Alaska’s parks, forests, refuges, and conservation lands; and American Legion Post 3 in Ketchikan, founded in 1919, serving local veterans, their families, and the community, and raising funds to rebuild following a devastating fire in 2023.

Conservation International:

As part of its ongoing commitment to ocean health, Holland America Line has selected Conservation International as the new beneficiary of its On Deck for a Cause charitable program on all sailings outside of Alaska, expanding the reach and impact of guest donations. Conservation International works in more than 100 countries and is a global leader in mangrove conservation and restoration — advancing the science and innovative approaches needed to protect coastal and marine ecosystems.

How to Participate:

Guests are invited to join our On Deck for a Cause walk by checking the Navigator app or the daily schedule delivered to their stateroom for event details. Walks are typically held on an ‘at sea’ day. A sign-up sheet, including instructions for participation and donation, will be delivered to each stateroom. For any questions, guests may visit the Guest Services team on board.”
