This tour is designed to be accessible for all guests, including those using a wheelchair. It showcases the diverse Romanesque, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture of Trogir and Split. Visit the incredibly intact Diocletian's Palace, perhaps the finest Roman structure in the Eastern Adriatic.
Meet your knowledgeable guide and accessible van for a panoramic drive to the charming town of Trogir. Settled by Greeks around the 3rd century BC, today, its ancient streets are host to a fascinating blend of Romanesque, Renaissance and Baroque architecture. View majestic Kamerlengo Castle from outside; ask your guide about the history of this massive 15th-century Venetian fortress.
A scenic drive along the beautiful Adriatic brings you back to Split. Explore the very heart of the city with your guide.
The relatively intact remains of Diocletian's Palace (AD 305) invite you to walk/roll past ancient pathways, beautiful arches, and columns of the above-ground section and the fascinating cellars below.
Notes:
This tour is designed to be accessible for all guests, including those using a wheelchair (the tour operator suggests you bring a companion to assist, as guides are not allowed to push wheelchairs). Companions can book the same tour under the title Accessible UNESCO Trogir, Old Town Split and Roman Ruins (Companion). The tour route avoids stairs; however, the nature of access may differ from the standards you are familiar with at home. Accessible bathrooms with wide doors are available along the tour route. An accessible vehicle with a wheelchair lift or ramp is used for transportation. The number of accessible vehicles available is extremely limited; make your accessible shore excursion reservations as far in advance as possible. Guests requiring accessible transportation, please complete the Special Services form at https://book.hollandamerica.com/specialServices/login.action; this will ensure that suitable transportation is in place for your tour.
