From the pier, a panoramic drive takes you along the Embarcadero to Vista Point, overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. This bridge is possibly the most beautiful -- and certainly the most photographed -- bridge in the world. Often half-veiled by the city's trademark rolling fog, San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge connects the City by the Bay with the Redwood Empire to the north. You'll pause here for photos.
Visit Golden Gate Park -- San Francisco's enormous arboreal front yard. One of the most interesting green spaces in the United States, this park covers more than a thousand acres and is replete with museums, gardens, and attractions that help define San Francisco's character. You will stop near the Japanese Tea Gardens, MH De Young Museum, and the California Academy of Sciences.
A short drive through the city streets brings you to Twin Peaks -- almost-identical summits that, on a clear day, treat you to a 360-degree view from the Golden Gate to Alcatraz, Berkeley and the peninsula. Spend some free time here to take in the views before returning to the ship.
