The Valparaíso region of Chile stretches from the Pacific coast to the Andes Mountains. Explore some of the highlights of this region, including the breathtaking city of San Antonio and the lush Rosario Valley, which produces some of Chile's best wines.
Your tour begins with a panoramic drive into the heart of San Antonio, which straddles rolling hills and coastal dunes. Just north of the mouth of the Maipo River, the city is crossed in two sections by beautiful estuaries that form the hub of a rich fishing area along the Chilean coast.
Continue by coach to the Rosario Valley for a visit to Matetic Vineyard's biodynamic winery, featured in Food & Wine magazine. Encircled by mountains, the Rosario Valley boasts ideal climatic conditions for both red and white wines. Matetic is run by the fourth generation of a family who arrived in Chilean Patagonia in 1892. Watch the wine-making process and enjoy tasting some of the excellent wines produced here. Savor the terroir, enhanced by Pacific Ocean breezes and granite soil rich in quartz minerals.
You will also have some free time to browse at El Emporio, a well-curated boutique stocking a variety of local products, handicrafts and wine accessories -- heaven for wine lovers and anyone who appreciates a gorgeous setting.
Notes:
This tour is available only to guests whose cruise does not begin or end in San Antonio. Corkage policy: Wine purchased on this tour is exempt from the onboard corkage fee (offer limited to one bottle of wine per person). Wear comfortable walking shoes.
