The yellow Tchou Tchou Train (wheeled trolley) is an excellent option for those seeking a guided orientation tour of the city and resort area, complete with the best viewpoint of the peninsula.
Your route will pass by the local market, followed by Baie de l'Orphelinat and Port Plaisance where the Yacht Club is located. Continue your journey along Baie des Citrons, and stop at Rocher à la Voile for a photo stop. Then, continue along Anse Vata Beach - a paradise for watersport-lovers.
At Ouen Toro lookout point, enjoy breathtaking views of the blue lagoon and the surrounding islands. Leaving Ouen Toro, continue towards the Promenade Pierre Vernier, the popular coconut-lined waterfront route and the five-star flagship Meridien Hotel. Pass through Faubourg Blanchot -- one of Nouméa's oldest residential districts with many old colonial homes.
Continue to the central shopping district and beautiful Coconut Square before heading back to your cruiseship.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; please dress accordingly. Bring a hat and wear biodegradable sunscreen. Scooters and wheelchairs are not allowed on the trolley but can be left with staff at the tour departure point while you are on the tour.
