Calling all railroad buffs and those interested in Hawaii's agriculture.
Board a narrow-gauge train for a 40-minute ride through the 105-acre Agriculture & Animal Plantation.
Ride in the King Kalakaua-style pure mahogany wood passenger cars. From the train you will have splendid views of orchards that grow more than 50 varieties of exotic fruit trees including acerola cherries, cashew nuts, mangos, star anise and lychees.
Don't miss the fields of pineapple, sugarcane, bananas, papayas, taro, native Hawaiian hardwood trees, tropical flowers and the beehives.
The train will stop so you can get off and feed the animals -- herds of wild pigs, goats and sheep. Watch for cattle and donkeys too.
All along the way your conductor will describe the flora and fauna, sharing the natural and colorful history of Kilohana and the legends of Kauai.
There will be time for shopping at the beautiful Kilohana Manor House.
Notes:
Kilohana Manor House is closed on Sundays. For Sundays call, an additional stop at Hilo Hatti’s will be made for shopping.
