Approximately 5½ Hours
Travel 1½ hours to Chiloe National Park, located in the Lakes Region on the west coast of Chiloé Island. The park is special because its main vegetation is the Valdivian forest -- a rain forest comprised of beeches and the beautiful, endemic alerce tree (Fitzroya cupressoides).
Have a look around at the Visitor Center to acquaint yourself with the habitat and ecosystem here; then, stroll the Tepual pathway through a forest of tepu, with a dirt pathway and approximately 90 steps to negotiate. Parts of the path are also covered by a boardwalk.
Enjoy a snack along the way and return to Castro after your stroll through the park.
Your guide will do his/her best to speak English, but please keep in mind that the remoteness of the port/ limited tourism infrastructure here is part of the city’s charm, and bear with any language difficulties he/she may encounter. Travel time to Chiloé National Park is 90 minutes each way.
