Alligators by Night
Local Sightseeing, All
Information not currently available.
Approximately 3 hours
Cross the Rio Negro by riverboat into Lake January, where you will board a covered canoe with an outboard motor, and cruise through the dark and exciting jungle. Nighttime is when the jungle really comes to life. Watch the shadows and listen to the mysterious sounds.
Your guide will watch for alligators and, as he locates one, will jump into the water and catch it with his bare hands. You then will have the opportunity for an up-close look and can take some pictures before the gator is released back into the river.
Minimum age is 5 years. Tour involves some effort during (dis)embarkation of the motorized canoe. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. The water level in the Amazon basin fluctuates seasonally. Occasionally, tours that involve these waterways may be rescheduled/modified at very short notice. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
