EXC In-Depth offers innovative, expert-led, themed adventures. You are invited to dig deep into one or more theme on each tour -- nature and science, arts and culture, food and wine, history and perspective, or photography and active exploration.

Fiordland National Park is your gateway to New Zealand's Te Waipounamu UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the region’s deeply-incised fjords by way of Holland America Line's very own fleet of Zodiacs, in the company of the knowledgeable and fun Explorations team. Fiordland’s snow-covered peaks soar 5,000 feet heavenward, and its U-shaped valleys, sculpted by glaciers, reach for the water’s edge. From sea level, these geological features are dramatic and enthralling. See the lush and green vegetation that creates a dark and dense endemic habitat of tree ferns, and a profusion of moss and lichens. New Zealand fur seals lounge about on the rocks along the waterline, totally indifferent to your presence in their wholly protected environment.

Notes:

Bring bottled water, a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Dress warm and in layers; it can be cool on the water. Bring a waterproof jacket and suitable camera protection; showers are not uncommon. Minimum age is 6 years. Tour operates weather permitting. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair. Sand-flies may be present; wear insect repellent. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
