Approximately 2¾ Hours
A professional English-speaking local guide with a headset (so you can always hear him/her) will guide you through Papeete -- the main town of the island of Tahiti and the capital of French Polynesia.
You will walk through the famous open-air Municipal Market of Papeete, where more than 80,000 square feet of floor space is devoted to the buying and selling of produce straight from the fertile soil and the briny ocean. The market is divided into sections ranging from local produce, fruits, vegetables and flowers to handmade handicrafts and the catch of the day. Stroll among the stalls to divine a sense of how the cuisine of France has influenced the menu choices of the locals, from baguettes and brioche to stunning vegetable, fish and meat combinations. Many of the vendors are the farmers and fishermen, bringing the epicurean treasures of the islands to the city in a typically laid-back Polynesian fashion.
A short walk away, you will discover one of Papeete's finest French restaurants -- l'O à la Bouche. French Master Chef Jean Charles creates for you a special three-course lunch menu to showcase wonderful local produce with a distinctly French twist. The fabulous food is paired with tasty French wines.
