There's nothing like a good old-fashioned, trap-to-plate, put-on-a-bib lobster feast. But first the lobster must be caught, so you'll experience both the fishing and feast on this immersive culinary journey. Board the 56-foot Miss Samantha, a quintessential Maine lobster-fishing boat with ample seating, a touch tank for viewing ocean critters, and an open bow for admiring the scenery. You'll head out onto the water with a cast of salty characters who offer a glimpse of what life is like as a real lobsterman.

Watch the experienced crew haul lobster traps in from the ocean. The on-board naturalist explains all about this amazing crustacean and about lobster-fishing -- one of Maine's vital industries. When the traps come in, feel free to touch the lobsters, crabs, sea cucumbers, sea stars and any other visitors from the ocean floor, before they are returned to the deep none the worse for wear.

As you motor along the rocky, scenic coastline, you'll spot the grand old mansions that are remnants of the grandeur of Bar Harbor's fantastic Gilded Age.

Return to shore and head to Stewman's Lobster Pound. This oceanfront seafood shack is set on a wharf and is the venue for your authentic Downeast Maine lobster bake. Feast on lobster, mussels, corn, potatoes and coleslaw. There's also New York strip steak or crispy chicken, accompanied by potatoes and grilled asparagus, for anyone that is all lobstered out. Finish your memorable dining experience with a slice of classic Maine blueberry pie.

Dress warmly in layers with a wind- and waterproof outer layer; it can be cool on the water.
