Anne of Green Gables is in love, and so are the critics! Variety, Newsweek, the Toronto Star and the Ottawa Citizen have offered rave reviews of Anne & Gilbert -- one of Canada's most successful musicals.
Delight in a guided walking tour en route to the performance at the Guild Theatre located in the heart of Charlottetown. Your stroll begins at the waterfront and extends north along Great George Street to include a view of the Province House National Historic Site.
Ascending gently from the waterfront, the quaint streets are lined with buildings of various domestic architectural styles and functions. Pass St Dunstan's Basilica National Historic Site -- a well-known stone church rebuilt in 1916 after a fire. It is located on celebrated Great George Street, also a National Historic Site because of its strong associations with the birth of Canada.
Watch a professional performance of the Anne & Gilbert musical based on the Anne of Green Gables series of books by Lucy Maud Montgomery. It is hilarious, full of beautiful songs, and includes some tear-jerking moments. It tells the heart-warming story of one of Canada's greatest heroines and her beau -- Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe.
