Just north of Los Cabos you'll fund a sparsely populated region that's striking in appearance, ranging from arid desert and white-sand coves, to swaying palm trees and deep blue sea, with some of the best surfing breaks in all of Mexico. At the heart of the Cape Region is Todos Santos, a small village that has been written about in FOOD & WINE magazine and is well worth the detour from Los Cabos.

At the pier in Los Cabos, join a knowledgeable English-speaking guide and board an air-conditioned bus for a trip back in time. Driving north, you'll admire the contrasting coastal scenery: On one side is the Pacific Ocean; on the other side is a forest of cacti that goes on as far as the eye can see.

Your destination is Todos Santos -- a small village that sits peacefully next to the Pacific Ocean. Here, you'll discover an oasis where surfers and fishermen, artists and aging hippies all happily coexist.

You will have time to walk around the old Jesuit mission, explore the small boutiques, glance through one of the many cool art galleries and have lunch at the famous Hotel California. Legend has it that this is the hotel that inspired the Eagles to write their iconic song back in 1969. Wander its moody halls and don't miss a taste of the killer margaritas. But be careful -- it's been said that you can check out, but you can never leave.

Guests who wish to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so, but must make their own way back to the ship.

Wear casual, conservative attire. Bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Some shops may be closed on Sundays.
