Approximately 7½ Hours
In 1939, Pan American Airways' luxury Flying Boat, the Yankee Clipper landed at Foynes, ushering the Golden Age of aviation whose splendor has never been recaptured, and this quiet little town on the River Shannon became the focal point for North Atlantic air traffic.
Your tour today will set out from this small but justifiably renowned village. A motorcoach will transport you to the spectacular Cliffs of Moher -- majestic cliffs rising from the Atlantic Ocean to nearly 600 feet and extending five miles from Hag's Head to O'Brien's Tower. You will visit the Atlantic Edge Visitor Centre. This underground building features a huge domed cave containing images, exhibits, displays and experiences such as a virtual-reality cliff-face adventure, The Ledge, shown in the audio-visual theater. Experience life at the cliff-face both above and below sea level, meeting a cast of characters from among the native bird and sea life.
You will stop for lunch at Doolin. This charming seaside village on the northwest coast of County Clare is the traditional music capital of Ireland. Following lunch, sit back, relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery as you travel through the breathtaking counties of Clare and Limerick before returning to Foynes.
Tour is non-refundable from 4 days prior to the call at Foynes. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Bring a rain jacket or umbrella.
