Royal Jelling: A UNESCO World Heritage Site
Information not currently available.
The drive to Royal Jelling takes you through the picturesque Danish countryside and across the peninsula of Jutland.
Your destination is the Royal Jelling Museum, which includes the famous Jelling Stones -- a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is part of Denmark's largest Viking complex and is also one of the country's most-visited attractions. You will sense the presence of the Danish Viking Age and learn about the first Vikings in the world's oldest monarchy. See the permanent exhibits and follow the history of the two on-site burial mounds. These were built by the Viking kings Gorm the Elder and Harald Bluetooth more than 1,000 years ago. The collective treasures of the burial mounds, the runic stones and the church, the world's largest stone ship and an impressive palisade are seen as Denmark's most important cultural heritage monument. Enjoy free time to stroll on your own after a guided tour.
Return to Esbjerg afterwards.
Suitable for guests using a wheelchair with a companion to assist as long as the guest can (dis)embark the coach. Not advisable for guests with mobility limitations. There are uneven, gravel, grass and rough surfaces at the burial site.
