This tour features a comprehensive overview of Berlin with less detail and more time for shopping.

Begin with an approximately three-hour escorted train ride through the Mecklenburg countryside to Berlin. During the journey, your escort will hand out a light breakfast snack together with coffee or tea and a city map of Berlin.

Upon your arrival in Berlin, your city guide will meet you at the platform and walk you to your motorcoach. Your sightseeing tour will include a panoramic drive past some of the major highlights of the capital with photo stops at the Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie.

Stop for lunch at a traditional restaurant before you continue to the next highlight -- a 40-minute boat ride along the Spree River. The route passes the beautiful Museum Island, the Berlin Cathedral, the Reichstag building and the amazing government quarter including the impressive Chancellery. Sit back and relax taking in the sights and sounds of the capital from the water.

You will also have approximately 45 minutes of free time for shopping and browsing on the Kurfürstendamm -- Germany's most famous shopping boulevard -- before it is time to start the return journey back by train to the ship in Rostock.

This tour is available only on select sailings. The round-trip train ride from Rostock to Berlin is not air-conditioned. Participants must negotiate four steps in order to board the boat. Use of public restroom facilities costs 50¢ - €1 .
