The lovely town of Chania is built around a beautiful Venetian harbor. A 15th-century lighthouse and numerous picturesque, narrow streets, showcase the architectural influence of several foreign powers.

Follow your guide on a walk towards the center of Chania's Old Town. You will visit the Agora -- the marketplace -- where you can find all sorts of herbs, locally-produced honey and a great variety of fresh, delicious produce. Enjoy some free time to browse and shop on your own.

Crete's natural environment is delightfully encapsulated in the Botanic Gardens located just outside Chania. Walk among fruit trees, herbs, ornamental plants and large trees in this whopping 24,000-acre facility. Learn about the plants, breathe in the fresh air, and savor the scents of this sprawling plantation.

Now it's time to learn how to create a traditional Cretan dish. As your light lunch is prepared in front of you, take a closer look at the ingredients being used. The key to Cretan cooking is tasty simplicity. It will all seem very easy because you'll be sampling locally-produced wines during the process.
