Few places in the world are as culturally and geographically diverse as Vancouver. This landmark coastal city stands at the base of the majestic mountain range that hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Leave the ship on a panoramic drive through the bustling downtown core of Vancouver, with one of North America's largest Chinatowns, and a gorgeous park system right in the heart of it all. You'll head through the Gastown district -- an older part of town renovated to become a local hotspot. Watch for the steam-powered clock.
You'll pass through Stanley Park, bordering the commercial area of Vancouver. This park is larger than New York's Central Park and still contains sections of old-growth forest that is hundreds of years old. Interspersed throughout the park are wonderful examples of First Nation totems. Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, with a 5½-mile seawall, this is one of the pre-eminent city parks in North America.
From here you'll drive to Capilano Park for a treetop adventure. The famous Capilano Suspension Bridge crosses a deep gorge carved by the Capilano River, and is 450 feet long. It is designed for walking use only, and you'll feel the sway as you head towards the far side. Follow a progressive series of platforms that wind their way among the primordial forest of British Columbia. Keep an eye out for various species of birds and animal life that live in the woods.
This tour is available only to guests whose cruise does not begin or end in Vancouver.
