Join Chef Chris Holen at the Baked Alaska private event annex for a seafood demonstration and wine tasting. The Baked Alaska Annex is the newest addition to Baked Alaska's multi-concept, environment rich facilities, where food is the focus. Chris Holen has appeared on numerous television shows. He has represented the State of Oregon at the Great American Seafood cook-off in New Orleans. He teaches the culinary arts program at Seaside High School and has even taught a cooking class alongside the great Graham Kerr -- the Galloping Gourmet. Living by the "lucky to live here" mantra, Chef Chris Holen and his wife, Jennifer, are in their 16th year in business in Astoria.

Gather around the open kitchen where Chef Holen will filet fresh salmon and demonstrate proper cooking techniques. He will show you how to make a quick sauce to accompany the fish as well as create a side dish with non-seafood seasonal ingredients. You will taste and enjoy this delightful pairing.

Sample wines from Baked Alaska's own private label, designed to exemplify Oregon's best-known varietals. More than just a chef, connoisseur and wine afficionado, Chef Holen is a storyteller at heart. He will talk about his own history, what has influenced and inspired him, and how food can give you a sense of place. He will give perspective on Astoria's past and present, and what the future might hold for Astoria -- the oldest permanent American settlement West of the Rocky Mountains.
