Local philosophical and religious tradition emphasizes living in harmony with the tao. With a history of more than 2,000 years, Taiqing Palace is considered the origin of Taoism; so, today you’ll learn about Taoist beliefs and traditions here. Towering above the palace, Mt Laoshan is a sacred mountain often regarded as the dwelling place of immortals. Taiqing Palace was built in 140 BC by a Han Dynasty official who devoted himself to Taoist development. A legendary tai-chi master in ancient China lived at Taiqing Palace, which is comprised of three courts—Sanguan Hall, Sanging Hall, and Sanhuang Hall. With 155 rooms, Taiqing Palace currently ranks as China’s second most important Taoist temple. Return to the ship by motor coach after your tour.
