Nha Trang’s beachfront is a spectacular façade for the equally picturesque countryside behind it. Just a few miles inland, the terrain is dotted with palm trees and fruit orchards. Industry here is simple indeed, with small farming businesses making up the principal commercial enterprise.
Take a stroll along a village path to the home of a family whose business entails weaving mats from the rushes that grow abundantly nearby. Two people working together are able to weave four mats each day. These are sold or bartered at the local market for food and other essentials.
Step inside a traditional village house. Ancestor worship is an important part of daily life in Vietnam-a large area of this small home is reserved for the family altar. Then visit a local market to observe the daily rituals of local trade -- a colorful place bustling with activity.
Finally, visit the Embroidery workshop to admire the skill and creativity of hundreds of Vietnamese artists crafting their embroidered works. Re-join your coach for the return drive to the pier.
