Explore one of Beppu's most iconic attractions on this adventure to the Jigoku -- the Boiling Hell Hot Springs. This half-day excursion begins when you board your comfortable motorcoach for a short drive to Jigoku Meguri. Visit three of the most popular springs, all with very distinct mineral properties, colors and functions. This is a visually arresting landscape that is all about viewing rather than bathing.

Don't miss the Umi Sea, whose water is a beautiful aquamarine shade, reminiscent of a tropical sea. There's a delightful foot spa here where you can soak your feet in the invigorating waters. Perhaps most memorable is the dramatic Chinoike Jigoku boiling pool, which thrills visitors with its deep crimson color derived from the red clay particles that swirl through the waters. The Tatsumaki Tornado is a geyser that erupts every 20 minutes or so, and the water temperature is 100 degrees centigrade -- the boiling point of water. It is very dramatic and exciting. At the completion of your tour, a relaxing motorcoach ride will return you to the port.

Bring a towel, an umbrella, a waterproof outer layer. Bring local currency, as many vendors do not accept credit cards or US dollars. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring sunscreen, water and a hat.
