Iriomote Island is located 40 minutes by ferry away from Ishigaki. It is the largest island of Yaeyama. Nature tours are very popular here, as the island is rich in natural resources and the climate is subtropical.

You will visit Japan's largest mangrove area on the Nakamagawa River. The mysterious mangrove jungle offers marvelous habitat for the variety of plants and creatures found here, many of which are endemic to Iriomote.

Nearby Yufu Island is known as the subtropical flora paradise. There are 30 varieties of hibiscus and more than 100 different kinds of trees growing on Yufu. You will access this island by way of a water buffalo ride.

Lunch will consist of a Japanese-style boxed lunch.

Notes:

Ferry operates weather permitting. Tidal conditions may affect the access to Yufu Island. The water buffalo ride is by cart. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations.
