The Mayan Eden Eco-Park is a nature park located only a few miles from the port in Roatán. It brings you back to the ancient world of the glorious and mystical Mayan culture.

While hiking along the Ocelot Mountain walking path, you will see replicas of many ancient Mayan sculptures from the Copán archeological ruins. Follow your knowledgeable guide along different nature trails that meander through the virgin island jungle and interact with nature in an intimate environment. Birds, monkeys, parrots, snakes, insects and lizards make their home here and in the park you’ll observe several species of flora. Six kinds of orchids and several types of bromeliads flourish, along with old rattans and trees.

Cross a suspension bridge and climb to the top of the hill for amazing views over the Caribbean coast, the port and of the distant islands.

In the park you’ll also visit Crystal Wings -- the only place in Central America where butterflies and hummingbirds live together in harmony in a walk-in pavilion. Three species of hummingbird and 20 species of butterfly share this habitat.

Your tour will finish with a 30-minute stop at Coxen Hole, where you will have free time to explore or visit the local souvenir shops.

Notes:

The path has been cut through the rain forest -- it is not a well-maintained track. Mind your head, as there are a few places where trees and branches will overhang the pathway. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
