Enjoy a scenic drive, in air-conditioned comfort, along Jamaica's beautiful coastline to the world-famous Dunn’s River Falls. Here you will climb through 600 feet of cool refreshing water as it cascades over natural limestone terraces. Guides are provided to assist you when ascending the rushing waters as it plunges directly into the pristine Caribbean Sea.
At Prospect Plantation -- an 18th century estate -- the friendly hostess will offer you a fruit drink.
Board a jitney -- an open-air tractor-drawn carriage -- to embark on a journey through time. As you ride along, your entertaining and informative host will share tales of this amazing estate and those that once inhabited it. You’ll be amazed by Jamaica’s flora and the secret medicinal powers the plants and trees hold. Catch a bird’s-eye view of the magnificent White River George, deeply incised through the lush rain forest below. You will hear tales of the buccaneers as you view the channel between the two islands, known as the Spanish Main. This was the main route taken by ships en route to Spain from Central America.
Watch in amazement as a farmer climbs a 30-foot coconut tree and enjoy a sample of this wonder fruit.
Continue to the Great House, which once served as a fort and now houses the largest collection of turtle shell combs in the world. Stroll in the gardens to enjoy the beautiful and fragrant flowers, and marvel at the magnificent view from the Great House verandah. As you gaze out upon the lush tropical forest, beautiful gardens and the magnificent stretch of Caribbean Sea, you will completely understand why Columbus named Jamaica the ‘land of wood and water’ when he first discovered this lush island so many years ago. Head to Memory Lane to see the many trees that have been planted by the hands of popular celebrities, Prime Ministers and even royalty on their past visits to this amazing plantation.
The highlight of your tour is a visit to the Camel Park, where you will appreciate the beauty and grace of these gentle giants.
After a brief orientation and helmet-fitting session, mount your camel and set off on a ride that you will never forget. View the plantation from a fascinating perspective as the camels gently walk along the sandy path through wooded forests. You might even qualify for a Camels Driver’s License.
Return to where you began this fascinating journey, with a new understanding of Jamaica’s culture, secrets and fascinating history.
