Visit Quirigua National Park—a Mayan city that was once the crown jewel of this region. Upon arrival you will disembark the motor coach and walk along a stone pathway onto the grounds. View the monuments lining the Central Plaza and study the intricate carvings on the stellae, altars and zoomorphs, which reveal vivid portraits and bizarre glyphs. As you explore, your guide will explain the engineering techniques used to construct Quirigua. After concluding the walking tour of the city, re-board the transportation for your return to the ship.

Notes:

Travel to Quirigua is approximately 1½ hours each way. Shade is limited; please dress accordingly. Bring a towel, sunscreen and a hat. Wear hiking shoes; bring binoculars for bird watching.
