Visit Mele Gardens -- a shaded, flat, easy-walking two acres of lush gardens showcasing Vanuatu's magnificent flora. Transferring by minibus you'll see the harbor, Vila's downtown area, a coconut plantation, and Mele Bay.

Arriving at the gardens, you will be met by your specialist guide who will introduce you to the highlights of this tropical treasure trove. Amid the lush trees, variety of palms, fruit trees, colorful shrubs, vegetable crops, medicinal plants and cascading vines, you will find aviaries stocked with local birdlife, safely-housed snakes and lizards and a prehistoric-looking coconut crab.

Within these two acres are informative photo displays relating to the history, culture and heritage of Vanuatu. There is also a display of scaled-down thatched huts from all parts of Vanuatu, including a cannibal's house. If you'd like to have your photo taken in this jungle-like setting, draped in a non-venomous snake, the opportunity will present itself.

Bring bottled water. A number of souvenir stalls are set up near the ship.
