Approximately 2 Hours
Explore the beautiful island of Grand Turk by eco-savvy HXT Electric Hummer -- a fun, cool and eco-friendly way to tour the entire island. Head out caravan-style in your classy, eye-catching ride after a safety briefing from your tour guide.
Stop at the former US Air Force Base and step into vacation mode as you do the ‘electric slide’ with your guide, and see the famous John Glenn Space Capsule -- a historic landmark on the island of Grand Turk and a nod to America’s space exploration history.
Next, you’re headed to the salt ponds at Salt Cay Town. Hear tales of the island’s rich salt industry and learn how salt was harvested in pre-technology days. You may also be lucky enough to see various birds foraging through the rakings.
On the West Coast, mesmerizing, magnificent old colonial buildings date from the 1600s and 1800s and are set against a backdrop of pristine turquoise water and powdery white sand. See the old jetty and hear about the 7,000-foot drop that is unique to Grand Turk. Sample luscious local cuisine and make the most of a chance to purchase locally handmade crafts and souvenirs.
Back in your Hummer, head north to the Circle of Life. Here, you’ll see and touch sea creatures such as conch, urchins, star fish, jelly fish and sea cucumbers. Glimpse the lighthouse in the distance and watch for roaming horses and donkeys as they bask in the sun.
At the Salt Pan, learn about Grand Turk’s prosperous rich history before you head south back to the pier, enriched by your day out.
