New Zealand is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire. The Volcanic Plateau, which you will visit today, is where its geothermal activity is manifested in erupting geysers, steaming fumaroles, mud pools and hot spring water.

From the pier, a one-hour motorcoach ride brings you south through the kiwifruit-growing region of Te Puke (pronounced tee-pookey) to the active Hell's Gate Geothermal Reserve at Rotorua. Here, on a one-hour guided walk, you will pass in close proximity to the steaming fumaroles and boiling mud pools of the most active thermal area open to the public in New Zealand.

Next, take an approximately 1½- to two-hour sailing trip on Lake Rotoiti among the most beautiful of the many lakes in the Rotorua region. On your charter cruise, you will sail by Tapuaekura Marae and view this complex that is an integral part of the Maori community around the lake. Cruise past other secluded bays with native bush-clad shorelines and holiday cottages.

While on board, enjoy a picnic style lunch and a selection of beverages. Your hospitable hosts, Tina and Matt, will make your day memorable.
