Join this excellent introduction to the Hawke's Bay area including the sights of Napier and Hastings. The prosperity of this region has steadily increased during 150 years of sheep farming, market gardening and more recently, wine production.

Head along Marine Parade to Havelock North, where the coach climbs to the summit of Te Mata Peak Lookout for a panoramic view over orchards, gardens, vineyards, rivers, towns and coast.

The town of Hastings, on the Heretaunga Plains, is often referred to as the "fruit bowl of New Zealand". You'll visit a nearby orchard to taste the fruit grown there.

Continue on to Silky Oak Chocolates, where you can view the chocolate-making process and sample some handmade chocolates -- pure decadence and not quite calorie free.

Visit the adjacent Chocolate Through the Ages Museum, detailing the history of chocolate from Aztec times to the present day.

Finish your tour with a drive along Tennyson Street for a look at Napier's fascinating art deco architecture--a noted trademark of this lovely town. Your tour will end back at the ship.

There is a short section of winding road on Te Mata Peak.
