Your introduction to the main highlights and stunning scenery of Grand Turk begins here.
This small island garnered international attention in 1962 when the Friendship 7 Mercury spacecraft, piloted by astronaut John Glenn, landed off its southeast shore. A replica of that spacecraft is now displayed at the entrance to the airport, where you will stop briefly for photos.
Continue to the salt pans and past the St Thomas Parish Church to the main town of Cockburn (pronounced co-burn). Cockburn is a historic town dominated by 18th- and 19th-century Bermudian architecture. The old street lamps evoke a charming historical atmosphere.
A small street craft market is great place to browse for souvenirs.
Take a short, leisurely walk to get a closer look at a few of the towns more significant historic buildings, before traveling to the northern part of the island to admire the lighthouse of Breezy Brae.
To round off your trip, your last stop will be at Bajari Beach. You’ll have around 1½ hours of free time on this beautiful, idyllic sandy beach to soak up the sun, swim in the cool, inviting sea, relax at the bar, or stroll along the two-mile stretch of sand. There's also a souvenir shop.
Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, sunscreen and a hat. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
