A professional, friendly guide will escort you to air-conditioned transportation for the transfer north to historic Fort James Beach, just 10 minutes or so away from the pier.
Never tried an eco-friendly Segway before? Don’t worry -- you will be amazed at how easy it is to maneuver this phenomenon of motion, and within minutes of a complete orientation, practice and fitting of a safety helmet, there’s no limit of enjoyment as you cruise along on your zero-emissions Segway scooter, enjoying how it works and moves intuitively.
Head out past pastureland and homes and take your Segway on a half-mile sweep of the stunning, often almost uninhabited Runaway Beach, backed by sea-grape trees and palms. Swinging back around the large salt pond, full of bird life including white egrets in the waterside trees and banks of pelicans, you’ll reach the track leading to Fort James. Travel back to a time in Antigua’s history in 1706, when the British built one of its most impressive forts to protect against French invasion. Conquer the trail leading to this most impressive structure of defense, built with full masonic honors, as your Segway leads you down the path of history. Ride through the large wooden gates of Fort James, complete with cannons, where the spectacular sight of the Caribbean Sea awaits.
Cruise past beach picnic parks, scores of fruit trees and miles of beach in just minutes, as your knowledgeable guide imparts interesting facts about the area. After this exhilarating tour, enjoy cool drinks around a picnic table and savor your surroundings.
With time to relax on the beach you can catch up on a good read, take a swim in the sea, or do absolutely nothing at all.
