Travel by coach to the seaside resort of Paignton.

Board a steam train for a 30-minute ride to the riverside town of Kingswear. With whistles blowing and smoke puffing, the train passes around the South Devon coastline at Torbay, past fine golden beaches, rocky cliffs and through rolling wooded valleys to emerge alongside the tranquil River Dart and its ever-widening estuary.

Leaving the train, you will walk the short distance to the ferry for the three-minute journey across the river. On the other side, visit the historic town of Dartmouth, with all its royal Naval connections, narrow streets, old houses, and lovely river promenade.

Lunch is not included, but you can purchase lunch at your own expense. You may like to try one of the local pubs to sample a typical lunch and English draft beer.

Re-joining your motorcoach, you will take a pleasant scenic drive through the attractive Devon countryside and past historic Totnes, with its Norman castle.

Returning to Plymouth, watch for the Hoe -- the historical part of Plymouth -- and catch a glimpse of the Barbican, famous for the Mayflower Steps.
