Journey to the colonial capital of Antigua. The scenic 90-minute, narrated drive from the port through Guatemala’s lowlands affords magnificent views of volcanoes, cattle farms and sugar cane plantations.

Upon arrival at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Antigua, visit the beautiful Central Plaza and step inside the cathedral. Following this, head to the famous Capuchinas Convent for a unique insight into convent life of colonial times.

Your next stop is at a local restaurant, where you will enjoy a traditional Guatemalan meal. After lunch, you will have some free time to explore the area on your own.

En route back to port, you’ll pause to check out the famous Jade Museum & Factory. Here, you’ll discover how fine jadeite jade is transformed into works of art (jadeite jade is found mainly in Guatemala and Burma) as well as learning about the elaborate history of jade within Mayan civilization. You will have time to browse among the many jade products available for purchase here before returning to the ship.<>
