Experience Mauna Kea, a sacred place featuring ancient history, cultural sites, and magnificent beauty created by fire and ice. At 13,796 feet, Mauna Kea is the highest peak in the Pacific.

Marvel at the view from the top, a majestic moonscape that looks down on the clouds.

Enjoy a scenic drive through Hilo and see Rainbow Falls, the Mauna Loa lava flows and the Kipuka Pu'u Huluhulu Native Tree Sanctuary as well as the Onizuka Center for International Astronomy.

Don't miss seeing the world's largest telescope at the Keck Observatory (weekdays only).

A light lunch is served along the way.


Not advisable for pregnant women or for guests with respiratory, back, neck, or heart problems or mobility limitations, as the tour exceeds 13,000 feet in elevation. Persons who have been scuba diving in the past 24 hours are not allowed to participate. Wear long pants and comfortable walking shoes. Minimum age is 16 years. Jackets will be provided if needed. Tour does not operate on holidays.
