Discover Nicaragua’s colorful culture and traditions.

You’ll board air-conditioned transport for a 30-minute drive to Chinandega, and begin with a sightseeing tour through this typically Nicaraguan city. Stop at the Central Square -- the main plaza and heartbeat of every Nicaraguan city -- to visit the cathedral.

Head to a local hacienda to take part in some enlightening and fun cultural activities native to Nicaragua. See the crafting of ceramics by artisans using techniques from generations ago. Tortillas are prepared right in front of you -- a popular dish eaten daily by Nicaraguans at every meal. Taste the tortillas and add some extra ingredients if you wish, such as fried beans and cheese. Hammocks are handmade by the local artisans using a very unusual and super-quick technique -- the finished product comes in all shapes, sizes and colors.

Watch some folkloric dancing, which represents the indigenous and mestizo culture of Nicaragua, and, finally, a taste of fresh fruit allows you to savor the sweetness of Nicaragua. Smoothies are also on offer. Browse in the souvenir shop filled with Nicaraguan memorabilia and, once you’ve found a treasure, return to the pier.
