This excursion showcases the wild nature of northern Patagonia. In this area, the Andes Mountain Range sinks into the ocean, and that phenomenon has created dozens of small lakes, and rivers.

Your excursion begins with a short drive from Puerto Chacabuco to Lake Los Palos. A short briefing will be given; then, steer your kayak along the western shore of the lake northward to the Tabo River, which feeds the lake. This is an area of calm, crystalline waters. The navigation is upstream, and will allow you see the varied endemic vegetation, as well as typical Patagonian birds that inhabit this area -- kingfishers, eagles, several types of ducks, and caiquenes.

Stop to take a short walk into the woods, then continue to a small island planted with native vegetation. Rest a while and enjoy a light snack before returning to the starting point.
