Approximately 7 Hours
Soar over the craters, lava flows and volcanic fire of Kilauea Volcano. Take in aerial views of the Hawaiian rain forest and head out to explore the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. Kilauea remains one of the most active volcanoes in the world -- it is the longest continuously erupting volcano on the planet. During your flight, watch the Hawaiian rain forest give way to black basalt formations created by millennia of eruptions, and look for surface activity. It's little wonder that native Hawaiians consider the mountain the home of Pele, Goddess of Fire. Following your volcano over-flight, head north and cruise over Hilo. Enjoy sweeping views of the Big Island’s tropical rainforests, valleys and waterfalls.
Landing in Hilo, meet a Park Ranger trained guide who will reveal the highlights of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. You'll learn about the active volcanic craters, sulfur banks, and steam vents.
Finally, enjoy a taste of Hawaii with a barbecue lunch at the Volcano Winery with a wine and tea tasting.
Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes. Shade is limited; please dress accordingly. Bring a hat and wear sunscreen. If the flight portion of the tour is cancelled due to unsafe weather conditions, the land portion of the tour will be completed and a partial refund will be given. Children 7 years and under require a car seat per Hawaii state law. The tour operator can supply a child safety or booster seat at no charge with advance notice to the on-board EXC Tours desk. Due to weight and balance limitations, as well as passenger safety and comfort, the helicopter companies have advised that guests weighing 250 lbs or more (fully clothed) will be assessed the weight surcharge to reserve adequate space on board the helicopter. Passengers weighing 250 lbs or more should reserve an extra surcharge ticket and, once aboard the ship, contact the EXC Tours office so your account can be adjusted to reflect the cost of the surcharge only. Helicopter excursions are not refundable unless cancelled by 12 noon the day after embarkation.
