Explore two popular coastal resort towns on the Bay of Naples -- scenic Sorrento and picturesque Positano.

Your tour begins from Naples, with a 30-minute motorcoach ride to the ruins at Pompeii. Here, you'll discover the archeological excavations of a lost city buried deep beneath ash when Mt Vesuvius violently erupted in AD 79. Explore the excavated ruins on a two-hour guided walking tour. Your guide eloquently interprets remains of the remarkably-preserved city, and how its long-gone, aristocratic inhabitants lived lavishly and entertained unstintingly. You will see the forum, amphitheater, gymnasium, shops and an aqueduct that delivered water for irrigation, fountains and private baths. Detailed mosaics and frescoes adorn the interiors of some villas.
Continue to the charming village of Sorrento -- a city with the heart of a small town that grew wealthy through trade with the eastern Mediterranean. Sorrento now enjoys a booming tourist industry. Enjoy time to browse in the shops along Corso Italia -- Sorrento's flower-lined main boulevard. You'll have an elegant lunch here or in Positano, with Prosecco sparkling wine and a delicious four-course meal.
Re-board the transportation for a 45-minute ride to Positano -- a picture-perfect town built into a sheer cliff. The tiers of whitewashed houses that cling to the rocky face are often the subject postcards and dazzling photos. Once a major trading port in the Middle Ages, today Positano is a sophisticated retreat for discerning visitors, filled with boutiques, beach shops, fine restaurants and cafés. Enjoy a leisurely hour to explore the town or shop for souvenirs.

Notes:

The route is winding and bumpy; guests who suffer from motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication. Due to traffic restrictions, a short walk each way from the minibus drop-off point to the main center will be required in Sorrento. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience. Large bags and backpacks are not allowed in the complex at Pompeii; these can be left in the motorcoach.
