Noumea, New Caledonia
UNESCO World Heritage Site Lagoon Snorkeling
Information not currently available.
Approximately 3 Hours
Noumea is surrounded by crystal-clear, calm water -- a sanctuary for some amazing, colorful marine life. Join your guide for a short walk to a 35-foot catamaran; then, you're off for a 30-minute boat ride over the lagoon.
You're headed to one of Nouméa's top marine park snorkel destinations at either Signal Island, Laregnere Islet or Master Island. Gear up and enjoy about an hour in the water to discover the sub-surface magic of the New Caledonia Lagoon -- a UNESCO Word Heritage Site. Keep your eyes open for a stunning variety of fish, corals and perhaps even sea turtles playing offshore.
Participants are required to be very physically fit. You must walk 300 yards to the boat departure point, you will swim from a platform at the back of the boat in 20-30 feet of water (there is no beach; the water is too deep to stand in). Re-boarding the boat requires climbing a swim ladder after snorkeling. Not suitable for guests who have had a hip replacement, knee replacement, guests with a bad back or with a pacemaker. Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking. The snorkel location is chosen by your skipper depending upon the conditions of the day. All snorkeling is from the boat. Gear provided includes mask, fins, snorkel and wetsuit. Minimum age is 6 years; maximum age is 70 years. Waiver must be signed and medical conditions disclosed. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, sunscreen and a hat.
