The Tchou Tchou Train
Information not currently available.
The yellow Tchou Tchou train (wheeled trolley) is an excellent option for those seeking a guided orientation tour of the city and resort area, complete with the best viewpoint of the peninsula.
Your route will pass by the local market, the military barracks built more than 100 years ago, and Faubourg Blanchot -- one of Noumea's oldest residential districts with many old colonial homes. Continue towards the Promenade Pierre Vernier, the popular coconut-lined waterfront route and the five-star flagship Meridien Hotel.
At Ouen Toro lookout point, enjoy a breathtaking view of the blue lagoon and the surrounding islands. Leaving Ouen Toro, you will pass by Anse Vata Beach -- a paradise for watersport-lovers. The clothing-optional beach of Baie des Citrons and the Yacht Club are next, followed by Baie de l'Orphelinat and the Southern Province Government House.
Continue to the central shopping district and beautiful Coconut Square. Finish the tour by shuttle or guests who wish to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so, but must make their own way back to the ship.
Wear comfortable walking shoes.
