Your visit to Hobart isn't complete without experiencing Richmond -- a town at the heart of the Tasmanian wine industry -- and meeting the infamous Tasmanian devil.

Take winding roads past lush countryside, rolling hills and small farms en route to the historic town of Richmond in the center of the Coal River Valley. See the town's fine Georgian architecture, the original courthouse, public buildings and churches and the oldest remaining bridge and jail in Australia. You'll have time to stroll and to purchase lunch (at your own expense).

Continue to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, where you will be fascinated by the endemic Tasmanian devil. See spotted quolls, pademelon, pottoroos, wombats and echidna. Never heard of these? Don't worry -- they'll be familiar favorites by the end of the day.

Hand-feed the Forester kangaroos and share a few unforgettable moments with the koalas and their dedicated keepers. Moorilla, on the banks of the Derwent River, is your next destination--a pioneer town of the modern Tasmanian wine industry. Experience Moorilla's Wine & Food Centre and watch winemakers and brewers of Moo Brew beer at work. Moorilla produces a range of award-winning cool climate wines with signature varietals including Pinot Noir, Riesling and Gewürtztraminer. Chardonnay, Cabernet and Sauvignon Blanc are also produced to an exceptional standard.
