Tour the Isle of Pines, also known as the Jewel of the Pacific. Your experienced local guide will narrate and point out a variety of landmarks and essential sights.

Explore the Notre Dame de l'Assomption Church in Vao Village and discover the St Maurice memorial in Saint Maurice Bay -- a commemoration of the first Catholic service on the island and a proud symbol of Melanesian culture and identity.

Then it's on to St Joseph's Bay, home of the traditional sailing outriggers made from local pine or kohu.

Your final destination is the natural Grotto of Queen Hortense. Take a walk through a wild tropical garden to the façade of this giant limestone cave. Your guide leads you inside for look at the caverns once used by refugees during tribal wars.

Your tour will end back at the pier.


Buses and vans are neither air-conditioned nor fitted with a PA system. Sturdy walking shoes are required. Wear clothing suited to the weather conditions, a hat and high-SPF sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Surfaces within the cave are uneven; it is dark in places. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Restroom facilities may be rustic. Tour does not operate on Sundays.
