Come and see the "real" Fiji firsthand as you journey into Fiji's fascinating past on a 45-minute drive to Pacific Harbour, passing Fijian villages, tropical rain forested mountains and flat pastureland.

Your destination is the exciting, world-renowned, Arts Village of Fiji at Pacific Harbour. Your arrival is heralded by the sound of a hollow drum, beaten by a Fijian warrior, the conch shell and island serenaders welcoming you to the village.

Sip a cool drink before you head to the amphitheatre to witness a spectacular performance by the Fijian Firewalkers and the enthralling group from the Arts Village of Fiji. From sheltered seats, see the past come to life before your eyes. Fijian Fire-walkers show their mysterious power over flame-as elders chant, young men remove the burning logs from a smoking pit to reveal the white-hot stones, signaling the start of this ancient ceremony. The scene is set now for a group from the Arts Village of Fiji to give a spectacular performance. Witness the dances and the re-enactment of legend and history, which are professionally produced and led. No conventional stage here -- the performers are one with the mysterious island.

Listen to the music of the island serenaders or join your guide for a walking tour around the Arts Village complex. Talk to the villagers and see other handicraft demonstrations. There will also be time to explore the souvenir shops for interesting gifts to take home.

Notes:

Local buses are used for transportation. These are very basic and do not have air-conditioning. To make your day enjoyable, please ensure you wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing to suit the weather conditions. Bring a hat, sunscreen and bottled water.
