Take a cruise on beautiful Akaroa Harbor. This massive natural bay was formed by a cataclysmic volcanic eruption millennia ago.

Cruise the deep blue waters and your guide will tell you about its fascinating geological history along with its rich marine life.

A highlight of this scenic cruise is Cathedral Cave, with its massive sea walls that are home to many sea birds, including the spotted shag and little blue penguin.

While cruising towards the head of the harbor you may also see fur seals and the playful Hector’s dolphin—the smallest oceanic dolphin in the world. These beautiful marine mammals enjoy riding the bow waves of the launch.

On your return to Akaroa you will pass the Akaroa Salmon Farm where salmon are raised in protected pens before being harvested and exported around the world.

Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
