Begin your day with tea, coffee and freshly-baked pastries; then it’s seafood, seafood and more seafood.

The Akaroa Cooking School buys its ultra-fresh seafood directly from the local fisherman who brings in the catch and sells it right on the wharf, only seconds from the door of the cooking school.

Your Fresh from the Wharf cooking class showcases the fresh bounty through the creation of a number of outstanding dishes using only locally caught fish and shellfish when available. These dishes are complemented with a bounty of fantastic local produce available in Banks Peninsula that may include the country’s best olive oils, local honey, nuts, fresh organic fruits and vegetables. All of our menus are based on what is seasonal and available.

The class will cover everything from how to source great fresh seafood and many different cooking techniques. The Akaroa Cooking School team cooks up a storm with the abundant seafood the Banks Peninsula has to offer

Come up and assist in the cooking and preparation of the dishes, finishing off with a huge seafood feast around the table.

Each dish is matched with award-winning local wines, which are also available for purchase.

This is a very indulgent day of entertainment and learning, eating fabulous food and drinking fine wines.

Enjoy time shopping in gorgeous Akaroa prior to boarding the tender to return to the ship.
