Information not currently available.
Approximately 5 hours
With a small group of like-minded foodie guests, savor this very indulgent day of entertainment, learning, eating fabulous food, and drinking wonderful wines in a stunning location. The Akaroa Cooking School cooking demonstration fully showcases the fresh bounty of your immediate surroundings.
Begin your day with a short stroll down the pier and into the doors of the superbly-located Akaroa Cooking School with its outstanding views over the harbour. Enjoy tea, coffee and freshly-baked pastries; then, it's all about the best produce that the Banks Peninsula has on offer.
The cooking school buys its ultra-fresh seafood directly from a local fisherman who brings in the catch and sells it right on the wharf, only seconds from the door of the cooking school. Shellfish comes from Akaroa Harbour, and free-range beef and lamb are farmed on the hills around Akaroa. Olive oils, local honey, nuts, fresh organic fruits and vegetables form the basis of the menu you will prepare today based on what is seasonal and available.
Four courses of superb cuisine, as well as canapés, are demonstrated in Master-Class style and are plated right in front of you. Ask questions, take photographs and move into the bright airy dining area, where each dish is served alongside award-winning local wines.
The Akaroa Cooking School has been named by Lonely Planet as one of the top ten cooking schools in the world.
Guests who wish to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so, but must make their own way back to the tender pier, a short walk away.
This is a demonstration class rather than a hands-on cooking experience. Minimum age to drink wine is 18 years, accompanied by an adult age 21 or older. Tour does not operate on holidays. Corkage policy: The on-board corkage fee is waived for one bottle of wine per person for wine purchased during this tour.
